Support for full upgrades of Microsoft NCE subscription into new and existing ones
We are introducing support for fully upgrading a Microsoft NCE subscription into a new or existing subscription. Previously, customers had to use workarounds to perform upgrades. Now, you (Marketplace Manager, Sales Support, Resellers, or a Company Admin) can upgrade a subscription to a higher eligible edition in compliance with Microsoft business rules.
During the upgrade process, the eligible editions are listed, and the new seats inherit the attributes of the existing subscription, including discount codes. Once the upgrade is completed, the old subscriptions are deleted, except for duplicate licenses. When a subscription is upgraded, redundant licenses may remain due to the upgrade to a higher tier. This may lead to duplication, such as an add-on. In such instances, customers are notified to raise a support ticket with Microsoft to cancel the required licenses.
Billing will continue as usual, with a prorated invoice line generated for that month. This change also reduces the number of invoice lines because of consolidated subscriptions
To support full upgrades, a new tab named Microsoft Upgrade has been introduced into the upgrade flow.
The following scenarios are currently supported for NCE subscriptions:
- Full upgrade to a new higher subscription
- Full upgrade to an existing higher subscription
